His fighting spirit had evolved a single unifying force to make him what he is today- Director, Chandra's Table Tennis Coaching Centre; over 70 potential table tennis stars getting trained under his guidance.
His coaching centre had produced International, National and Junior National Champions
Chandra (popularly known in Indiaâ€™s Sports fraternity) himself was an Three times National Champion, Twice champion in SAF Games, had won the bronze medal twice in Commonwealth Games (1979, Edinburgh and 1982, Bombay), had won a bronze medal in the Asian Games 1980, runner-up in the prestigious US Open (1984). He had represented India in Asia, world, Afro and Commonwealth championships. He had captained India to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, South Korea and North Korea.
He is an â€œArjuna Awardâ€ winner in 1984. This is a prestigious award presented to the outstanding sportsperson in India. He was â€œThe Sportsman of the Yearâ€ in 1981. Had also won â€œLife time Achievement Awardâ€ in 1999.
His educational qualification was an outstanding one â€“ B.A. Economics (Gold Medalist in Madras University), B.L (Gold Medalist again in Madras University) He had written extensive articles in The Telegraph, Sportstar, Sports World and Indian Express.)
To build a Ultra Modern Table Tennis Stadium, which will be only one of its kind in the annals of Indian Sport.
